Dear Servant of the Most High God:
I need your help promoting a solemn assembly; a gathering of
Christians from across the Rio Grande Valley. (From Roma to the sea)
No Frills, no thrills; just God and us in Worship, Prayer and Repentance.
The concept is to assemble as many Christians as possible to Worship, Pray and Repent before the Lord.
We want to use 2 Chronicles 7.14 as a model for our solemn assembly on July 18th, 2009 @ 7PM.
It's time we sever ties with shallow thinking and commit ourselves to the Lord. We will renew our passion for God and his kingdom. We will seek his face on that night like never before. (We will covenant with the Most High God; dedicating our land to God.)
Our desire is to see the Body of Christ come together in unity on behalf of America, the church and the generations to come. We desire that every age, gender, race, denomination and fellowship would respond to the call to massive prayer, fasting and repentance.
Our wonderful Rio Grande Valley is in a spiritual drought. Every area of society has been affected by this famine; the school system, our court system, the government, our homes and especially the church.
Many of the things that have been exposed in the church are just warning signs for us to awake, fast and pray. We are in desperate times and desperate times call for drastic measures. We must consecrate ourselves once again to repentance, purity and holiness as individuals and as the whole body of Christ.
- We’re calling for many Ministers & congregations to show solidarity as the body of Christ.
- We’re calling for as many Valley Civic Groups to attend and participate.
- We’re calling for as many city officials from across the Rio Grande Valley to take part.
- We’re calling for as many School Superintendents, administration and staff as possible.
There is a time to stay home and pray but there is also a time to assemble to pray together for a common goal. The scriptures clearly show us that when there were times of national crisis, everyone gathered to seek the Lord as an expression of sincere repentance and dependence on the Lord.
In Bible times, solemn assemblies were used to gather Israel for a definite purpose. It was representative of the whole nation. Most of the time the gatherings were for the purpose of prayer, fasting and cleansing from sin and idol worship. Many times on these days the Israelites ceased from working and offered sacrifices to the Lord.
This gathering will serve as an invitation from the Lord to fast, pray and repent for individual sins as well as the sins of the church and the nation.
There is always a promise of great blessing to follow these times of whole- hearted return to our covenant vows of love to the Lord.
Remember, no frills, no thrills; just God and us in Worship, Prayer and Repentance.
